Outgoing Engineering People Manager – Offshore background
The responsibility of the position can be divided into three sub areas: Technical Discipline Sparring; Management/Strategy/coaching and lastly external as well as internal Stakeholder Interaction. You will be responsible for a dedicated team of over 100 engineers across various disciplines and you will lead through other leaders as well as having dedicated design leads in direct reference too.
A major part of the key responsibilities within technical sparring and the management part are closely related and include some of the following tasks:
- Engineering must secure the right engineering resources, competences, and staffing of projects
- Engineering will provide the projects with engineering solutions
- Ensure interface with HR and focus development/training of internal personnel
- Engineering will provide Generation with engineering support and expertise
- Engineering will secure dedicated resources for front end engineering e.g. WTG, TDD´s and technical requirement.
As for the stakeholder part, it is important that Engineering becomes more visible in the rest of the organization to gain influence and to inform. The department must:
- Maintain a strong engineering-interface to the construction area, Development, Generation.
- Ensure right level of information is channeled to the right stakeholders.
It is required that you have at least 10 years of relevant work experience in complex engineering organizations, preferably from the offshore industry. You are a seasoned line manager who have lead through other leaders or you have extensive experience from leading engineering teams. Your project portfolio should include large scale projects with long term durability, where you managed the projects from start to end. Wind or O&G offshore experience is key for the position.
You have a good understanding of economics and the drivers of cost reduction. You have the technical interest and a broad understanding of other engineering disciplines combined with your core engineering background.
As a person, you are a communicative leader who can focus on both people and business. You are good at stakeholder management within a political, large, and complex organization. You pride yourself on good interpersonal skills. When asked, people would describe you as a coaching, mentoring leader with well-developed analytical and structural skills and a strong credibility built through both business insights and leadership. As a leader, you are clear and visible.
