To support this growth journey, Abacus Medicine is seeking an experienced Head of IT Operations to lead and oversee the Operations and Service Desk teams, elevating the department to world-class level performance.

As the Head of IT Operations, you will play a key role in ensuring the delivery and maintenance of the global operational environment and IT systems. You will lead and oversee the company’s Operations and Service Desk teams across different geographical locations, collaborating with various internal and external stakeholders to support the company’s growing business.

In more detail, you will be responsible for developing and implementing IT operational strategies that align with the company’s business goals, overseeing the creation and enforcement of IT policies and procedures. You will manage and maintain the company’s IT infrastructure, ensuring system availability, reliability, and performance. Additionally, you will implement and oversee disaster recovery and business continuity plans, ensuring high standards of IT service delivery across all business units. You will manage IT support services, plan and execute IT projects on time and within budget, and ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements. The role involves implementing robust IT security measures, conducting regular security audits, and managing relationships and contracts with external IT vendors. In addition, you will support a multi-country IT operations team, fostering professional growth and managing performance to achieve objectives.

This role provides a unique opportunity to take on a key leadership role at Abacus Medicine’s global Digital organisation, ensuring accountability of IT Operations and delivering reliable performance with swift problem resolution when issues arise. The preferred candidate should have solid experience in IT Operations Management, working in an international setting and possessing strong leadership skills, including managing remote teams and developing personnel. A thorough understanding of IT processes and experience in establishing or streamlining structures and processes are essential. The candidate should be adept at working with external vendors and contractors and have a solid grasp of IT infrastructure and systems. Familiarity with Microsoft technologies and Azure Cloud is preferred. Excellent structure, coordination, stakeholder management skills, and a passion for leadership and motivating people are also critical for this role.
